The SSI Open Water Diver course is your key to exploring the underwater world with confidence. Designed for beginners, this globally recognized certification allows you to independently dive with a buddy to depths of up to 18 meters (60 feet). Built on a teaching philosophy of “comfort through repetition,” it ensures you develop essential skills with ease.
Three Structured Components for Effective Learning
Theory (Digital Learning): Discover the fundamentals of dive physics, physiology, and equipment with the user-friendly MySSI App or web platform. This step prepares you for the final exam.
Pool/Confined Water Practice: Master critical diving skills such as mask clearing, regulator recovery, and buoyancy control in a safe, controlled environment.
Open Water Dives: Take real-world training to the next level with a minimum of four dives in open water, applying techniques learned throughout the course.
Flexible and Accessible Training for All Ages
With an age minimum of 10 years, this course accommodates junior divers (ages 10–14) and offers full certification at age 15 and above. Divers must meet swimming ability requirements and complete a health questionnaire to ensure safety in training. Using the MySSI App, you’ll enjoy digital integration for all materials and certifications, with flexibility to tailor sessions at a pace that suits you.
